In-transit:

My layover at Heathrow was fortunately much shorter heading westbound, as I had a little less than 2 hours to make the connection. Knowing how awful all the lounges were on my flight here from a week ago, I found a better transit hangout, that is the Burberry boutique. On a side note, I love what Daniel Lee is doing at Burberry already. Just because you print gigantic logos doesn’t mean you’ll steal business from the LV crowd.

This review will be the shortest of this series, as I’ve extensively reviewed the outbound United flight on its B767, and the Polaris seats are identical across plane types. I’ll be posting some pictures of the United Club, since that would be relevant for customers flying United. I personally didn’t spend time there, and I don’t think you should too unless you have to.

Boarding:

United Airlines B777-200 at LHR

When I arrived at the gate, only a dozen passengers were still left to board. We had a very light load, with economy about 1/3 full and quite a few open seats in business.

I was offered a pre-departure water, albeit my late attendance.

The menu was placed on the side table next to the seat, which reads as follows:

I asked if there was wine list and was told no. Shortly we were ready to go. I loved watching all the traffic at LHR, including the Singapore Airlines A380 that I just disembarked from.

Inflight:

Service soon began as we were flying over Ireland. I don’t often sit by the engines on the B777s, but the GE90s sure are beautiful to look at.

Breakfast was provided for the first meal of the flight, which started with some drinks and nuts.

Everything else came on one tray, with a croissant, a packaged muffin, some watery fruits and a main course. I selected the pan-seared beef fillet with Japanese atsuyaki tamago omelet, black sesame fried rice cakes, asparagus and teriyaki sauce. I thought it was an interesting option, given we weren’t departing Japan. The beef was dry, but everything else was decent.

For dessert, I had the banoffee tart, which was pretty good.

About an hour and a half before landing, a hot snack was served. This consisted of some more fruits and a Wellington burger.

Y’all this burger be slapping. It had an intense beef aroma, almost dry-aged like, and it was cooked(reheated) perfectly. The cheese was evenly melted, and the pastry bun was soft and fluffy. This might be the best thing I had on all of these flights on this trip. Just look at how gorgeous it was.

On Arrival:

Shortly we started our descent into Newark, and my first trip to China since the pandemic officially concluded. Three years is a long time for any of us, and I wish in our remaining time on this Earth nothing else will stop people from going to the places they want, and seeing the people they love.
