About

Inspired by another travel icon Pam Ann herself, Satay Away is a lifestyle blog that revolves around airline and hotel reviews.

Previously known as Satay Onboard, the author, whose digital presence is under the guise of ponyboi, spotted Pam Ann at the Admirals Club in Miami while sipping Krug Grande Cuvée out of a plastic cup. After a few exchanges, he was suddenly enlightened when Pam Ann mistook the blog name as “Satay Away! Like sashay away?”.

The nostalgia behind satay is a reflection upon the first time when ponyboi, then 15, flew in international business class aboard a Singapore Airlines A380 from JFK to Frankfurt. He was served the Southeast Asian classic as an amuse-bouche. While he’s since traveled far and wide, he holds the satay as the epitome of premium travel.

As a privileged youngster who didn’t have to fight much for his rights, ponyboi gets to be open about his identity and tries to live his authentic self. What better way to name his blog than to marry something personal and a reference to an undeniably essential element of gay culture?

Now, as if you can’t already tell, this blog will be excessive. It will be gay. But most of it all, it will be fabulous. Because that’s travel.
